About Me

I am Chen Liang (梁晨). Chen is my first name, and means “dawn” in Chinese. My research interests involve optimization-based planning, control, and physical-based simulation.

I joined the Applied Planning, Learning, and Optimization (Apollo) Lab at Yale University as a Ph.D. student in 2024. My advisor is Dr. Daniel Rakita.

I received my B.E. degree in computer science from Zhejiang University (ZJU) in 2023. Thanks to the inclusive graphics community at ZJU, I explored widely in graphics during my undergraduate studies. My interests in optimization and numerical methods were nurtured then. (Please check my gallery for my projects done in that time.)

From 2021 to 2023, I was fortunate to work with Dr. Zherong Pan and his colleagues in Light-Speed & Quantum Studio, Tencent. I began my journey discovering the techniques benefiting both robotics and graphics, and dived into the world of physical-based simulation, control, and planning.
